The Best Of Melbourne’s World Class Cocktail Week

The World Class Cocktail Week kicks off in Melbourne from 7-13 May.  There are more than 30 events across the week, celebrating the art of cocktail making (and drinking!).  Here’s our pick of the Top 5 must-attend events:


Eau De Vie Cocktail Degustation (12 May)

Eau de Vie’s cocktail and food degustation is drinking and dining done right. One ticket includes a five-course menu designed by head chef Paul Bertheau, paired with specially designed cocktails created by the bar’s award-winning bartenders. Diners are encouraged to relax and enjoy the theatrical, moody atmosphere of Eau de Vie’s decadent low-lit surrounds. The degustation will last for around three hours; just enough time to make yourself at home.


Hochi Mama Secret Cocktail Menu (7-13 May)

Let your drink choice dictate your dinner at Hochi Mama, with its specialty secret cocktail menu. After choosing from a selection of cocktail jugs designed to be shared between two, trust the chef to match your selection with a five-course set sharing menu, celebrating bold Asian flavours. The drinks are all inspired by Vietnamese fruits, expect ingredients like fresh sugar cane, lychee, longan, dragon fruit, rambutan and mangosteen. All dietary requirements welcome.


Bomba Cocktails & Tapas (7-13 May)

Relax on one of Melbourne’s best rooftop bars and enjoy a cocktail and food pairing. Known for its Spanish tapas, the kitchen downstairs at Bomba is working with the rooftop bar to create the ideal cocktail pairing. The bar will offer the Club Barcelona, an aperitif-style cocktail made with Don Julio Reposado tequila, madeira and passionfruit, and will be paired with a simple serve of padron peppers. The pairing is available for $25 from 3pm exclusively during World Class Cocktail Week. No reservations required.


Tiki Time (7-13 May)

Head to The Noble Experiment for a tiki-inspired cocktail with a unique Australian twist during World Class Cocktail Week. The drink will feature Tanqueray gin, Bundaberg Small Batch rum and an assortment of Australian herbs, served with all the theatre The Noble Experiment is known for. The drink will be available on all three levels of the 1920s styled venue and can be enjoyed on its own or paired with a dish from the modern-Australian menu. The Noble Experiment cocktail will be available for $20 all week.


1806 Hometender (7 May)

If you’ve ever wanted to pick the brain of a World Class bartender, this is your chance. In this masterclass you’ll learn how the best bartenders create delicious drinks, time after time. Each participant will be led by an expert bartender to create their own bottled cocktail to label and take home. The team will also partner with its resident onsite coffee expert to teach you how to mix different brews of coffee in cocktails, from a twist on the classic Espresso Martini to your own creation.
