On a spare Saturday morning we decided to visit Penta, in Elsternwick, just off the busy Glen Huntly Road. Its been open for a few months now and is a great addition to our local neighbourhood.
We tried the Penta Benedict, with braised beef cheek, watercress, poached eggs, jalapeno hollandaise on a sweet potato waffle. The other dish was the Japanese Okonomiyaki with spring onion, pickled ginger, kewpie mayo, poached egg and hoisin sauce.
Both dishes were quite large portions and a must try!
The kitchen is small which struggles under the weight of Penta’s popularity, so be prepared for a wait for your food. A great place to catch up with friend for a relaxing, unrushed weekend brunch.
Penta is very close to Elsternwick train station, so great for those in the city that need public transport.
