We were invited by Aunty Franklee to come along and try their new menu of Bak Kut Teh, bakars and stews.
Bak Kut Teh is a pork rib dish cooked in broth popularly served in Malaysia and Singapore. The name literally translates from hokkien (dialect) as “meat bone tea”, and at its simplest, consists of meaty pork ribs simmered for hours in a complex broth of herbs and spices (including star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui, fennel seeds and garlic).
Aunty Franklee have a range of options, including pork, chicken, beef and lamb, cooked in a broth of 23 herbs and spices. Its full of flavour and a staple of Malaysia and Singapore that’s worth a try.
